I must have been between 8 and 12 years old in the Era when people landed on the Moon, when computers were entering society and it really looked like the future had finally begun... Between 1970 and 1974 I visited the Evoluon at least twice because I remember wanting to go there to see the Senster - again!
My family saw half of the Evoluon exhibition and I was still standing there, observing the seemingly alive construction that welcomed the entering visitors. It 'saw' you move, it paid attention when you made a noise. Despite its steel construction, hydraulics power and it's 4 meter size, you could scare it away by enthousiastically yelling 'BOO!'
All that was made possible because it was controlled by a computer...
More than 3 decades later, it still makes sense. I have become a mechanical engineer, studied industrial automation and work with computers and electronics every day. All the things that define my working life today (don't worry, I do have a life besides that
Now, perhaps, it's payback time.
